Our school’s motto, “Striving for Excellence, Going for Gold,” encapsulates our daily commitment to fostering the best possible achievement among all pupils, regardless of their abilities.

Old Mill is a successful primary school and is proud to be a part of the Symphony Learning Trust. We work closely with other schools within the Trust, ensuring we continue to focus on being the best school we can be.

We are proud to achieve above average pupil outcomes, both in terms of academic achievement and the breadth of our curriculum. We emphasise holistic development, valuing both physical and mental well-being. Children benefit from outdoor learning, throughout their time at Old Mill, in our fabulous Forest School. 

At Old Mill, our dedicated staff, alongside supportive parents and an effective governing board, work together to help your child not only enjoy their learning journey at Old Mill but to also reach their full potential. 

Visitors always comment on our pupils’ exceptional appetite for learning, their commitment to striving for excellence and how our staff only want the best for pupils in our school. Our love of learning permeates through our entire site which is testament to the dedication, teamwork and professionalism of our staff.

Pupils at Old Mill Primary School are proud of their caring school. They enjoy their lessons and feel part of a welcoming school community. Through the school motto of 'striving for excellence, going for gold', they build their understanding of what it means to be an effective learner and a good citizen.

Pupils' attitudes and actions contribute to the respectful and inclusive culture at the school. Pupils feel safe and appreciate the care and attention they receive from staff. 

Pupils behave well... They are able to concentrate on their learning in calm and purposeful classroom environments. 

The school's inclusive culture and practice ensures that pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities and disadvantaged pupils are all included in all aspects of school life.

Leaders ensure that pupils learn about and respect difference. Teachers in every subject help pupils to develop their understanding of cultures and peoples who may be different to themselves. 

Leaders have high ambitions for all pupils, particularly those facing additional barriers. They have created an inclusive culture, where pupils feel safe and happy.

Leaders consistently and effectively promote the importance of attending school well... They have ensured that the school is an inviting and welcoming place that helps pupils to want to attend... As a result, pupils at this school consistently attend at levels above the national average. 

Pupils are well prepared for their lives beyond school. They recognise the importance of treating people with kindness and respect.
